ANOTR
Jesse and Oguz – the world’s worst cooks? Probably. But we love their music…
A record that always reminds you of Ibiza
J: That’s Amore – Dean Martin
O: Filthy Rich – Rendezvous (Nathan Barato Remix)
Your perfect breakfast would be…
J: My perfect breakfast would be a Dutch delicacy called “Wentelteefjes”. This is actually old bread (which doesn’t really sound appealing at all) that you put in a bowl filled with egg, cinnamon and sugar and fry it in a pan. Absolutely delicious.
O : My perfect breakfast would be a lazy Sunday breakfast with my family. My mother makes the best typical Turkish breakfast with egg and a warm Turkish dish called “Meleme”. It’s a dish with tomatoes, peppers…not sure about the rest but it sure tastes delicious!
The most unusual thing I have ever eaten…
J: When I was on a trip to Indonesia I ate crocodile which tasted a lot like chicken to be honest.
O: I haven’t been to any really exotic places to be honest, but when I was a little kid I liked eating sand haha. Oh and one time my mom fed me goat testicles without saying what it really was…she just said it was really healthy.
The dish that reminds me of my childhood
J: Pannenkoeken! Dutch pancakes with loads of sugar and syrup.
O: Sand…or maybe pancakes.
Who taught you to cook?
J: No one yet, but I still have plenty of time for that.
O: I hope my wife can cook when the time comes…
Your favourite restaurants in your home city Amsterdam…
J: Everything On A Stick (below)
Happy Happy Joy Joy
Cannibale Royale
O: Cannibale Royale (below)
Some of the other restaurants from around the world you love…
J: Dot Grill – Phnom Penh – Cambodia
Sleepy Owl – Koh Chang – Thailand
Il Giardinetto – Ibiza (below)
Made In Italy – Flores – Indonesia
Night Market – Gili Trawangan – Indonesia
O: To be honest, I forget the names of places I go to really quickly, but here are some of the ones I can recall…
Il Giardinetto – Ibiza – Spain
Sunset Ashram – Ibiza – Spain (below)
A DJ or musician that has surprised you with their cooking skills…what did they cook
J: My dad and his Christmas specialties like turkey and rabbit. He used to be in a band and still makes music! Does that count?
O: One of our managers’ Luuk made me a simple but delicious dish after playing two gigs and a nice afterparty during ADE this year: Macaroni with tomatoes never tasted so good.
Your guilty pleasure food. You know you shouldn’t but you always do…
J: Donër sandwich!
O: Pizza shoarma with cheese crust.
What is your signature dish?
J: Tosti, like I said I’m not a five star cook (yet)…
O: That would be Egg with Sucuk (Turkish Salami).
If you could have a master-class with a celebrity chef, who’d you pick and why?
J: Jamie Oliver. Because I think he’s a great cook and he does great things like his restaurant “Fifteen”.
O: I guess that would be Gordon Ramsay. I just wonder how it would feel to hear him complain about my awful cooking skills.
Dead or alive – 3 famous people you would invite around for dinner…
J: Gordon Ramsey (so he can take a piss about my cooking skills), Eddie Murphy and James Brown.
O: Megan Fox (……), Scarlet Johansson (you probably guessed I’m single) and DJ Khaled.
A dish you would love to master…
J: How to make a delicious Thai curry…
O: Lahmacun (Turkish Pizza).
Your favourite pizza topping
J: Mozzarella + Serrano Ham!
O: Tuna.
Your biggest ever food cock up
J: My pasta with a bit too much creme fraiche. I thought it would be nice but actually I ended up with 90 grams of pure fat in my spaghetti..
O: I would rather keep this to myself, but the first time I made eggs I forgot to put some oil/butter in the pan so I ended up eating egg with little pieces of the pan itself.
A dish you just cannot stomach
J: Chicory…even with the cheese and ham all over it, I just can’t handle it. And not to forget coriander. The devil. I personally think that little spice ruins literally all dishes. It tastes like soap!
O: Coriander and plain salmon…yuck
You get in from the club pissed, dive in the fridge and usually come out with…?
J: I think I wouldn’t be able to get to the fridge. The pit stop would definitely be at a junk food place or doner company.
O: Sometimes I just end up eating junk food at a fast food restaurant or whatever…
The most disgusting thing you have ever eaten at a festival
J: Some sort of vegetarian wrap with way too much coriander.
O: Fries that were soaked in hot oil.
Ibiza…
My favourite restaurants on the island…
J: Il Giardinetto! I’ve only been there once to so haven’t discovered much yet.
O: Il Giardinetto, I’ve only been there once as well but the first day we arrived we were invited to this beautiful restaurant with a beautiful view and delicious food. I knew from that moment on I could get used to living like that.
The best sunset spot for a cold drink…
O&J: Cala Conta
Your favourite Ibiza dish
J: Paella… hmmmm so delicious.
O: I just love to do tapas and try all different kinds
The perfect 24 hours in Ibiza would be…
J: Waking up, going to the beach. Grab a good lunch and dinner at a Spanish restaurant. Have some drinks and go to Amnesia afterwards.
O: Probably waking up way too early with a headache from the night before, but realising you’re in Ibiza so you just don’t care. Next thing walking to a nearbye grocery store buying some fresh milk and afterward grab a bite at a restaurant with friends. Hang around, maybe a day-time gig, dinner at a restaurant with a good view, grab some drinks and head out to Amnesia. And even after that a long walk over the beach with my toes in the sand and a rising sun…
