The queen of this year’s Glastonbury opens her kitchen door to Love Food Ibiza…
A track you love to hear on a sunny morning…
Your perfect breakfast would be…
Homemade corn tortillas, homemade vegan refried beans, guacamole, lime, corriander with raw peppers, celery, lettuce, green salsa & chilli sauce. With an amazing fresh orange juice on the side.
The most unusual thing I have ever eaten…
Cooked beetles in Mexico.
The dish that reminds me of my childhood
It would have to be chicken soup with matzah balls. I’m a vegan now so I can’t have it ! But even the smell reminds me of my childhood!
Who taught you to cook?
My grandma on my mum’s side and my mum.
Your favourite restaurants in your home city London…
Well that’s hard for me to answer as being a vegan and gluten free it’s not so easy for me to go to restaurants now – plus I prefer preparing my own food, however if I had to pick it would be the Makan Cafe in Notting Hill.
A DJ or musician that has surprised you with their cooking skills at home/their home…what did they cook
I think most musicians and DJs I know love to cook and I’ve been to their houses over the years and had their food, but nobody really stands out. I love my cooking the best!
Your guilty pleasure food. You know you shouldn’t but you always do…
Chips. Sometimes I crave something fried, it’s bad I know but now and again I think you should have what your body craves!
What is your signature dish in the kitchen?
So it would be cold brown rice noodles in a bowl with edamame, green beans, lettuce, pepper, finely chopped carrots, spring onion & corriander with a vegan/gluten free soya sauce, sesame, lime & sweet chilli dressing finished with a sprinkling of black sesame seeds. Delicious.
If you could have a master-class with a celebrity chef, who’d you pick and why?
It would be any of the chefs featured on the Netflix series ‘Street Food’. I just think they are inspirational humans. I’m not into fancy fine dining cooking anymore, I want flavour and to be wowed with simple ingredients thats been cooked in a traditional way – but forward thinking in its approach. These chefs featured were exactly that and i would like to meet them all.
Dead or alive – 3 famous people you would invite around for dinner…
Kate Bush, Depeche Mode and Frankie Knuckles.
A dish you have yet to master…
I think a really good vegan and gluten free desert that doesn’t taste like mush haha!!!
Your favourite pizza topping
It was always margarita for me with quality tomato sauce and cheese.
Your biggest ever food mistake…
I encountered a situation reminiscent of that one Christmas Day when I was responsible for cooking roast potatoes. Those potatoes took ages to cook. As a result, we were unable to achieve our initial goals. This experience taught me the importance of meticulous planning and attention to detail in culinary endeavors.
A dish you just cannot eat
I never was a fan of octopus or squid…
You get in from the club pissed, dive in the fridge and usually come out with…?
Hummus and carrots…
The most expensive meal you have ever had?
There are two. A super expensive Michelin starred place in New York and Nobu (below) in London.
Ibiza…
…I love you!!!
My favourite restaurants on the island…
You know what I am going to say here, I’m yet to scratch the surface with my dietary requirements. I will be back soon to continue my search!
A record that always reminds you of Ibiza
Your favourite Ibiza dish
Potatoes Bravas!
The perfect 24 hours in Ibiza would be…
Sunrise and early morning swim followed by yoga on the beach, sun tanning, lunch on a boat moored by Es Vedra, afternoon swim in remote part of island, back to hotel for a power nap, pre drink at Pikes & sunset viewing, watch DJ at Freddies…
…then off to DC10 and finally back on beach to watch the sun rise again. Then do it all again!
