Sander van Doorn
You have travelled all over the world, what is the most unusual food you have ever tried?
I tried some bugs once when I was in Asia, not my thing haha!
The dish that reminds you most of your childhood?
Haha – it’s a typical Dutch food called ‘boerenkool’, I think every Dutch person in the world will think of their childhood when that gets served
Do you cook? If so, what is your signature dish?
I’m on the road a lot, so I don’t get as much time as I want to cook my own meals. So no signature dish for me unfortunately
Your guilty pleasure food?
Also typical Dutch food, deep fried croquets or the Dutch smaller version called ‘bitterballen’
Your favourite restaurants in Eindhoven…
Sushi Haru is a really great place to eat some Japanese food
Your favourite restaurant in Ibiza?
Sushiya Aoyama, another sushi place, really awesome food
If you could have a master-class with any master chef…who would it be and why?
Heston Blumenthal, his cooking is almost science, amazing
What countries do you love returning to, to sample their cuisine?
I love Asian food, so South-East Asia and Japan are always a pleasure to visit
A dish you just cannot stomach?
What I really don’t understand is why some people eat offal, like liver and the kidneys and stuff. I can’t stomach that at all!
What DJ has cooked great food for you and what did they cook?
They didn’t cook it themselves, but I ate a perfect steak at W36, a restaurant in Amsterdam owned by Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano!
