2009 saw Vino&Co open it’s doors for the first time in Can Bellotera on the road from Ibiza to Sant Josep. Six years later and open all year round, business is booming. Vino&Co is run by father/daughter duo Jeroen and Rosa Hamersma and has undergone a great expansion over the last year. Taking over the shop next door, it has had a stylish refurbishment with the installation of a wine bar and the launch of an online ordering system. Their philosophy is simple yet effective: wine is to be enjoyed, without prejudice or snobbery. Their wine selection is based on the taste of the more Northern European market and adapted to the hot summer climate of Ibiza, therefore fresh and easy drinking wines.

Jeroen spends his days researching hidden gems and wines that fall under the radar. In particular smaller either more traditional wineries who have lost out on marketing, or younger bodega’s who have only just started. You won’t find any big brands in the shop, he prides himself on discovering the new “rising stars” in the wine world, always of the highest quality whilst still accessible in price.

Around 80% of their wines are Spanish, we are in Spain after all. They also have a great selection of French, Italian, Austrian, German and Chilean references. They have a huge selection of French and Spanish Rosé’s, that are a must in the Ibiza summer. Also their organic/ecological range has expanded significantly over the years.

No hard sell in the shop as Jeroen and Rosa love to share their passion for wine and knowledge and promote wine as an adventure, for all nationalities and ages to enjoy.

Hiruzta Txacolina (D.O. Getariako Txacolina – 93% Hondarrabi Zuri & 7% Gros Manseng)

Hiruzta is a txacoli that combines classicism with a more modern style, produced at a bodega with the most advanced technology. Very clean and bright, with a pale yellow color and green hints, you can appreciate the tiny little bubbles typical of these txacoli’s. In the nose you’ll get intense aroma’s of white fruits (pear and apple), citrus (grapefruit), tropical fruits (pineapple and passion fruit). In the mouth, beautifully refreshing.
